Welcome, we are Jonathon and Bernice, the new owners of Camping Le Paradis.
Due to Covid-19, like many others, spending time at home, we decided we wanted a new direction in our lives. Over the years we have spoken about owning a campsite and moving away from our hectic life style in the South East of England.
So we really did reassess what we were doing, and we realised that life really is too short!! So we decided our adventure would start now! In October 2021, whilst searching for campsites available to purchase in France, we came across Camping Le Paradis for sale. We emailed the seller and 2 weeks later, we went to view the campsite and signed on the dotted line in December 2022, then the rest is history!!
So if your looking for a break away from your busy life, and need to recharge your batteries in the slow lane, why not come and join us, at Camping Le Paradis.
There is so much to do in this beautiful region of France. Here we'll try and give you a flavour of what's on offer but if you have any queries please contact us as there is much much more to see and do.
Just 10 minutes away are the lakes at Lavaud and Mas Chaban, these neighbouring lakes cover more than 350 hectares. The scenery is unspoiled and children and parents can swim, ride pedalos, canoe, row, sail, sailboard, fish or just relax on the fine sand beaches.
The Château de La Rochefoucauld is just a twenty minute drive, where you can see this ancient fortress in all it's glory with the impressive 16th century "pearl of the angoumois" at it's centre.
Courvoisier, Hennessy, Martell and Rémy Martin are only an hour away centred around the town of Cognac with it's medieval quarter "Vieux Cognac" running from the Tours Saint-Jacques, alongside the river, up to the Saint-Léger church. The "circuit du chêne" (oak trail) takes you through the processes involved from tree to barrel to distillation.
Angoulême with it's magnificent Cathédrale Saint-Pierre is just 45 minutes away. The ancient fortifications have been replaced by boulevards above the old city walls, known as the Remparts home to the classic car racing in September, offer fantastic views over the surrounding countryside.
Limoges, of course the home to the world famous Limoges porcelain, is a fascinating city with a rich and interesting history. The 10th century Crypt of Saint Martial, The Gothic cathedral of St-Etienne and the Gare de Limoges Bénédictins are a few of the architectural highlights.
La Rochelle with its beautifully maintained historic architecture, is considered one of the most picturesque and historically rich cities on the Atlantic coast and is under 2½ hours away.
And that's without mentioning the roman remains at Chassenon and Les Bouchauds the chocolate factory at Trois-Palis, the magnificent hiking and cycling routes, michelin starred restaurants, local markets, adventure parks, museums, Vélo-Rail and well, you get the idea.
